The announcement issued by Volkswagen AG said that due to the hidden safety problems in transmission and lights, Volkswagen Auto (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen decided yesterday that totally 640309 defective cars manufactured during August 2009 and July 2013 will be recalled as from Nov. 25, 2013, including Bora, Golf, Sagitar, Magotan, Touran, Lavida, Superb, Octavia, Passat and POLO.
The more than 640,000 defective cars to be recalled by Volkswagen Auto (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen from Nov. 25, 2013 involve DSG gearbox. The announcement issued on AQSIQ website indicates that the synthetic oil used in the gearboxes of the vehicles to be recalled may cause the internal power supply circuit faults of gearbox and may lead to the inability of gearbox in extreme cases, representing hidden safety problems. Volkswagen Auto (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen will change free-of-charge the gearbox gear oil from original synthetic oil to mineral oil for the vehicles within the recall scope.
